Sustainable Farming Incentive


The Sustainable Farming Incentive is a new government scheme designed to reward environmental land management. The scheme is designed to be accessible by all farmers claiming the Basic Payment scheme which is gradually being phased out with final payments being made in 2027.

The Sustainable Farming Incentive was initially rolled out in 2022 with 3 standards available. Summer 2023 will see the expansion of the scheme with a further 6 standards released meaning a total of 9 standards are available to apply for with more standards to be released in future years.

The scheme is designed to be integrated with existing environmental schemes such as Countryside Stewardship as well as other new future schemes.
